The QWERTY layout was created by Christopher Latham Sholes in the early 1870s.

The keyboards of that time were not as electronic as today’s keyboards.

At that time, there used to be a lot of mechanical parts, if they were not properly arranged, then the chances of them getting stuck would be increased, which is why they were designed in Qwerty layout.
