This may sound a bit strange at first, but a team of researchers in Australia have found a way to find out your personality traits from your phone.
More surprising than that is that all this can be done using the accelerometer in your phone only.
A smartphone accelerometer is a small sensor used to track the phone for phase-counting and for other activities. Scientists say that it can be used to make an accurate estimate of people’s personalities.
Previous studies have predicted personality types using messaging activity and phone call log activity. But the latest study showed accuracy by improving computer accelerometer data.
Some activity is used to estimate people’s personality such as how quickly or how far the user walks or whether the user picks up their phone during the night. Following these patterns, these patterns reveal a lot about the personality type of the user.
Researchers said that physical activity has a strong connection with human personality.
“Many of our habits and behaviors are unconscious, but when we analyze it, it tells us a lot about who we really are so we can understand ourselves better.
Scientists at RMIT University, Australia collected data from accelerometer devices that detect motion in three dimensions.
The results were analyzed according to Big Five personality traits: extraversion, openness, aggression, dutifulness, and neuroticism.
