The first floppy disk was 8 inches in size and had a storage capacity of about 80 kilobytes.

Floppy disk drives (FDD) were invented at IBM in 1967 by Alan Shugart.

It used to be a very flexible plastic.

Later it was called “diskette”. When the floppy disk became 5.25 inches.
